Ralph, son Thomas, son Charles, daughter Dorothy Swale.

Four generations in one photograph, at a particularly poignant time.
Ralph (1858-1946), son Thomas (1883 - 1957), son Charles (1915-1992), and daughter Dorothy (1940- ) Swale.
The photo must have been taken when Charlie had just arrived home from the war. When he left for the war, his wife Mary was expecting Dorothy, so he never saw his daughter until he came home. Notice he is wearing battle ribbons.
He was in a POW camp, so the guess is that this photo was taken in late 1945.
